3 red wines and 3 cheeses to enjoy

A post for those who love wine and cheese  😉

As we announced in the title, if you love wine and are also a cheese lover (they normally go together) then you are in the right place.

We have selected 3 red wines from Mr Vin and 3 cheeses that we think make a marvellous pairing for these wines. The wines are: Lleiroso Crianza (100% Tempranillo aged for 12 months in French oak barrels), Guelbenzu Evo (Produced with 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Graciano, 6% Tempranillo, 4% Merlot and 4% Syrah, aged for 12 months in barrels) and Acuma (Produced with Monastrell Pie Franco, Syrah and Petit Verdot aged for 4 months in American oak barrels).

What do these 3 wines have in common to make then ideal companions for the 3 cheeses that we are suggesting?

They are wines with a good structure to withstand a strong cheese but without an excessive tannicity that masks the flavour.

Let´s take a look at the cheeses we have selected for these wines:

Smoked Idiazabal Cheese: Created in the Basque Country and Navarre using raw sheep milk that is matured for a long time. Soft rind, amber-coloured and normally smoked. Distinctive and strong taste with a very pleasant aroma that is slightly spicy.

Rosemary Flower Manchego Cheese: Produced using pure pasteurised sheep milk and rosemary, cured for between 6 and 8 months.  Intense, robust and long-lasting on the palate.

Binibeca Menorca Sheep Cheese: A semi-cured cheese produced with raw sheep milk.

In winter with the cold, it seems that our body yearns for red wines. So, we have chosen 3 cheeses with a medium-high intensity to ensure that the level of intensity on the palate of the wine and cheese is on par and that they can be paired together without one masking the taste of the other.

The truth is that enjoying a good wine and a good cheese is one of life´s greatest pleasures, don´t you think so?
