Tres Picos (€13.85) by Bodegas Borsao, is a 100% Garnacha wine produced in the D.O. Campo de Borja (Aragon) and aged for 5 months in French oak barrels. The best wine in the world in terms of value for money according to Robert Parker in 2013. Very intense picota cherry colour with purplish hints. Sardón (€8.70) produced in Ribera del Duero by the Quinta Sardonia winery where Peter Sisseck (Pingus, Hacienda Monasterio and Clos D’Agon) sets the guidelines and Jerôme Bougnaud runs the vineyards and winery. 93% Tempranillo, the rest is Cabernet Sauvignon, Garnacha Tintorera and Malbec from vines that are 35-years-old and it is aged for 12 months. It begins intensely in the nose with very fresh red fruit, notes of red liquorice and cherries. Sela (€14.37) produced by Bodegas Roda in Rioja with 93% Tempranillo, 5% Graciano and 2% Garnacha, aged for 12 months on French oak barrels. A medium-intensity smooth and fresh red. Infinito (€18.63) by Ego Bodegas in Jumilla (Murcia). It is produced with a selection of Monastrell and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes and aged for 18 months. (The grapes come from vineyards that are more than 40-years-old). A wine that is intense, explosive and elegant without losing its freshness. In the nose the fruit is ripe, it is reminiscent of jam. Pétalos del Bierzo (€17.86) the wine that Álvaro Palacios (one of the most internationally renowned Spanish oenologists) has created alongside his nephew Ricardo at the D.O. Bierzo (Castile and León). 100% Mencía from vineyards that are 50 to 90-years-old, aged for 10 months in French oak barrels. Picota cherry red colour with little blueish glimmers.
