Mr. Vin is an online and local initiative specialising in wines. This new company is headed up by Diana Escandell Tur (Ibiza 1990), who grew up among the wine shelves of the shop that her parents opened in the centre of Ibiza in 1998. After a decade working side by side with her father, Javier Escandell, and collaborating with his projects, she has created Mr. Vin, an online shop selling wine in Ibiza.
– How did the idea of creating Mr. Vin arise?
The truth is that I had been thinking about the idea for several years but the Covid-19 situation sped up the process. Mr. Vin is an online website selling wine devised by Ibizans and only for the Ibiza market, as we want to focus on delivery sales on the island of Ibiza. It is like a virtual local shop with access for all the inhabitants of Ibiza in an easy, practical and quick way, that is characterised by a very meticulous selection of wines at the best prices.
A specialist wine shop
– You already had experience in this type of market, right?
After ten years collaborating with the company of my parents, I wanted to somehow live and repeat the experience that they enjoyed at the end of the 90´s with the island´s first specialist wine shop. Now, times have changed, so too have tastes, needs, technology and the capacity of clients to adapt to the current world of wine. We can find people who are very specialised and educated about wine, and those who don´t have a lot of wine culture. The challenge of this project is to have the necessary resources to get each person the ideal wine according to their needs. As my father says: “there is a wine to suit everyone and a moment to suit every wine”.

– In your case, have you inherited a passion for wine?
I am completely aware that without the help , guidance and experience that my parents have provided, this company would not be possible or it have taken me a lot longer to shape it. Thanks to my involvement and experiences over these years, I have realised that the needs of the market have evolved a lot. Thus, I have created this online, local project specialising in wine that we believe adapts to current needs. The option of purchasing from companies in Ibiza who have quality products and are specialised, along with the need to facilitate the process of selecting wine and the wine home delivery service for the client seems ideal to us for the future.
Organic wines
– What wines can we find on Mr. Vin?
We have an extensive selection of wines that we have created over a long time and tried. Among these wines, there are some that are not very common on the current market. Of course, Enotecum is one of our suppliers to bear in mind. Our preference is for biodynamic and organic wines, as we must fully respect nature, without it we wouldn´t have the option to continue enjoying wine. We also have new additions such as white wines macerated with skins (the so-called orange wines) and different types of sparkling wines. Of course, there is also the option to buy the most well-known or most commercial wine brands.
– Are the sales aimed at individuals or companies?
Mr. Vin has been devised for the local market and is especially focused on private clients. We want to make it easy for clients to order whatever they want, whenever they want and the quantity they require. We have an extensive selection of wines to suit all budgets and different occasions: wines for everyday use, wines for enjoying a glass with daily meals, dinners with friends, family celebrations and special events.
Sale of home delivery wine in Ibiza
– It is intriguing because this is a website only for sales in Ibiza.
Indeed, our idea is that Mr. Vin should offer online sales but those of a local business, that is to say, we only sell on the island of Ibiza. The main objective is to solely focus on wines and exclusively for the Ibiza market. It may seem contradictory because with a website there is the option of reaching a global market, but our philosophy is based on specialisation, both in terms of the product and the market, and this is the best way to achieve it.
– How does Mr. Vin carry out deliveries?
The delivery of wines to homes in Ibiza is carried out using electric vehicles in order to collaborate as much as possible to increase awareness of and respect for the environment, something that we should all always really bear in mind. We want wine lovers to have every facility that current technology offers us in order to provide the best possible service and make the most of our experience so they have the chance to choose from a very complete and appealing catalogue of wines, always at the best price.
