Before we get down to the important stuff (pizzerias in Ibiza), let’s take a moment to go back in time to find out how long we have been able to enjoy this popular Italian dish.
Pizza is a popular dish that has its origins in Italy. Its history goes back to ancient Rome, where there was an early version of pizza known as “panis focacius”…
What happened next?
Origins of pizza
In the 16th century, the tomato was introduced to Europe and began to be used as a main ingredient in pizza.
In Naples, in the south of Italy, the first pizzerias serving this delicious creation were founded.
The original Neapolitan pizza was made with a thin base of bread dough topped with tomato, mozzarella cheese and olive oil.
In the mid-19th century, Neapolitan pizza became even more popular, thanks to the pizzaiolos (pizza masters) who sold it on the streets of Naples.
It was during this time that new ingredients such as anchovies, garlic and fresh basil were added.
And so it evolved into what we have the opportunity to taste today.
Pizzerias in Ibiza that we approve of
Although there are many good Italian restaurants on the island, this is our own personal recommendation.
They don’t have to be the best or the most popular: they simply have a reserved space in our hearts.
And now is your chance to make memories too!
El Pirata in Ibiza
The location of this legendary restaurant in the port of Ibiza is out of this world: the atmosphere, the view of the sea and the beautiful boats that moor in the summer…
The nights here are magical, without a doubt.
All dishes are prepared by passionate chefs using the freshest ingredients and the most authentic recipes.
Would you like to discover the wonders that El Pirata has to offer?
Can Bassetes in Santa Gertrudis
This is one of the classics of the North that could not be missing from this list.
This legendary Ibicencan-run restaurant offers a family atmosphere in the heart of one of Ibiza’s most charming villages.
On their menu you can enjoy good pizzas at an incredible price, but we encourage you not to stop there: the pastas and meats deserve a special mention.
And so does its friendly team!
Rickyssimo in Cas Serres
We love home cooking. And the locals of a lifetime, of course.
If you’re on our team, Rickyssimo has it all: homemade food done as always, in the heart of Ibiza (and even a terrace).
Great value for money, which delights visitors and residents who visit daily, and dishes full of love thanks to Ricky and Daniela.
We encourage you to escape to try their amazing Neapolitan Milanese on a weekday when you don’t feel like cooking.
